This Sony tap-20 mobile touchscreen desktop has proved to be a very reliable and enjoyable addition to my household as well as my place of work. With a large screen and up to the date computing power, it acts as a desktop and laptop rolled into one that's easy to use in either way.
With the i7 processor and 8 gigs of ram, I've had nary an issue with speed, whether it's when I'm trying to access my musical files or surf the net. I have an external drive with 2 TB's of music on it, and the computer can handle what it takes to rifle through the thousands of songs with ease. The specs more or less speak for themselves, and I haven't had any issues with the computer not performing the way a computer with these specs should. It would have been nice to get a solid state drive over the DDR, but I'm guessing Sony wanted to keep the price as close to 1,000 dollars as they could here. It doesn't mar the overall experience, though.
I reckon the real draw of this computer is the 20" touchscreen, and so far it's been a real beauty, and a joy to use. I own an iPad 3, so I'm used to touch screens and varying levels of responsiveness whilst connected to wi-fi hookup. I've experienced no lags, drops, streaks, or breaks in responsiveness after a month of usage. I've started to prefer browsing with this over my iPad simply because the size and display is so impressive. You can lay back on the couch with this and use the touch screen just as you would an iPad, with an even better screen. It's more limiting as to what you can access, but for what it claims to be able to do, it does with aplomb. I click hyperlinks, flash links, and pretty much any link you can think of, and it works immediately and accurately. If you're wanting to purchase for this very reason, I would recommend without hesitation. The screen also comes with a stand, so when you prefer to use it as a traditional computer with keyboard you can set it up anywhere you wish. It's extremely handy in a work environment as you can set it on your desk and use it as you sit, and if you have to quickly jet to another room for a meeting, you simply grab the screen and leave the keyboard behind. Very cool!
The HD web camera is a thing of beauty as well, and I've used it quite a bit. I've used a few different "face" apps with the computer, and the image has been crystal clear according to the other party. One of the most surprisingly pleasant aspects of this computer is the sound. I've hooked it up to my phone and iPad for music playback, and it sounds fantastic. I've also watched digital movies and they look and sound amazing. Laying in bed watching movies will be something you look forward to with this computer!
I have also connected this to my 60 inch plasma TV, and the display and sound is top notch. Connecting the computer to my television was very easy, and I experienced no lags with visual or audio playback.
The battery seems to last a decent amount of time as well. When used moderately throughout the day, it gave me 4-6 hours of use on one full charge.
In the month I've used this computer, I've had nothing but an array of positive experiences with it. It's fast, looks and sounds beautiful, and connects flawlessly to all of my devices, all while being a portable touchscreen. Check out the specs, add those to a beautiful 20" touch screen, and let Sony do the rest! Highly recommended!

Quite honestly, this is a wonderful invention. I can't even properly call it a desktop because it is so much more. It's like a giant tablet that has the convenience of a keyboard and mouse. It is wireless and beyond convenient. You can start something in one room, then pick this thing right up and carry it with you to anywhere you want, and continue with your business. It's not heavy at all so even leaning it on your lap is not a problem. It's quite sleek and modern-looking; same goes for the wireless mouse and keyboard. The touchscreen is great if you will be constantly using it. I'm actually NOT a fan of Windows 8, but I've learned to get used to it. The HD camera is perfect for Skype and I've hardly noticed any clarity issues. Setup is ridiculously quick and simple. I have viewed movies on this, using Netflix and Amazon and it was nothing but a joy from beginning to end. Software runs flawlessly. I use Adobe Photoshop with a Bamboo tablet and it's great fun, and worry-free. The stand allows for multiple positioning(you can even lay it flat!) and feels nice and sturdy. The processor is fast, as is startup. I can't think of a single negative regarding this Sony VAIO. It really is a great machine, and super convenient.

Please note: I am not a technical expert so this review is from the perspective of just a regular computer literate person, not an elite user. A lot of the numbers the techs rattle off don't mean much to me, what counts is how it works doing the things I need to do.
First of all, this machine is fast and powerful, obviously faster even compared to my other new (purchased early 2013) Dell desktop. You can run multiple Adobe programs on it and a browser and not even feel a little lag. So that is very nice.
The touch screen might take getting used to for some, but not a whole lot if you have used a smart phone or tablet. I like Windows 8 in this format much better than on my other desktop, which is not connected to a touch screen. It's definitely made to be used that way. If you really can't stand it, this one comes with a mouse too, which is actually a very sleek and ergonomic model. It also comes with a keyboard which I found kind of awkwardly small but still very much useable.
If you are thinking because it is all in one it will be like a laptop...don't bet on it. It is good and sturdy, small enough to pick up and show something to someone briefly, but not small enough to sit with it on your lap or anything like that. This is good, though, because it has already weathered one attempt by my cat to liberate it from the desk, without budging.
The picture is really great, and because of this it is good for watching movies, playing games, and working with graphics programs. It comes with some neat programs already loaded: SoundForge, DVD Creator, Acid Music Studio 9.
The only slight problem I have had with it is that sometimes after it has been "asleep" we have to reset the wireless connection. I'm not sure why this is--our Dell and the Toshiba laptops don't have this problem. It might be that our router is too old and slow for this elite new machine. 10/11/13: SEE UPDATE BELOW.
I am used to shopping the budget aisle for my computers (thus the aforementioned Dell) so it is a real treat to get to use this one. I think it's definitely a good deal for the price.
UPDATE: I figured out what the wireless problem was and it's easy to fix. By default, the laptop is set up to allow the computer to shut off your wireless to save power. But you can change this setting easily. Go to the start screen, type "device manager." Find your wireless connector(s) in the device manager, right click and select properties. Under power management, uncheck the box that allows the computer to turn it off. Done, fixed. Seems like that completely solved the problem.
UPDATE 2, 10/29/13: Well, that didn't work for long. It went back to constantly dropping the wireless, even with the fix in place. Searching the help resources and forums, it looks like this is a known issue with these Sony laptops. Fix it, Sony! I have had to plug the computer into the wall for internet, making it MUCH less serviceable as a laptop now. I am taking off a star from my rating, sadly. This is otherwise a GREAT machine, but they need to roll out a fix for this wireless problem!
